The magazine Wine Spectators has included 4 Portuguese Wines in your annual list Top 100 of 2013.
The awarded Portuguese wines were the following:
- Croft Vintage Port (13th place)
- Quinta do Passadouro from Douro (37th place)
- Quinta do Crasto Douro Reserva from Douro (81st place)
- Graham Tawny Port 20 Year Old (87th place).
The selection of wines for the TOP 100 List was based on quality, value, availability and excitement.

“The German wine challenge Berliner Wine Trophy awarded 64 Portuguese wines, including two medals of excellence.
Portuguese wines had a great participation in Berliner Wine Trophy: two Premium Berlin Gold (best in competition), 42 gold medals and 20 silver medals.
The 1957 and 1984 “Colheita” Port Wines from Kopke (Sogevinus winemakers) got the two Premium Berlin Gold medals. It should be mentioned that jury assigned only 9 medals of excellence in this competition edition.
The Berliner Wein Trophy is a German competition started in 1994. It has two editions per year: one in Winter taking place in February and the Summer edition in July.”
In Wines of Portugal
The Swedish wine club Munskänkarna, one of the biggest wine clubs on the world, awarded the Douro and Porto as the “Wine Village of the Year”.
“The Vallado Adelaide Tributa Port, produced by Quinta do Vallado, was rated with 99 points (out of 100 possible) by Mark Squires.
The Vallado Adelaide Tributa Port was produced in 1866 using pre-philoxera vineyards and it’s a special edition limited to 1300 decanters.

Mark Squires is the official wine critic for Portuguese wines in “The Wine Advocate”, a publication managed by Robert Parker, one of the world’s most influential critics, until the end of 2012.”

The Portuguese Wine Critic Anibal Coutinho has released the Guide of the Best Portuguese Wines for 2013. The selection was based on the personal opinion from the blind taste of 700 Wines from all wine producing regions of Portugal.

Two Portuguese Wines are on the 2012 list of “TOP 100″ wines by Wine Spectator.
At 13º is the Wine “Quinta do Vallado” 2009 from Douro.
On 20º is the Vintage Port Wine “Poças Junior” 2009.
This selection is the compilation from more the 17 000 wines of the top 100 wines reviewed by the specialists in blind tasting.
